The chapter brief loop
Write the next chapter with any AI you like. DunneWrite tells the AI what is already true, then checks what came back.
DunneWrite does not write your book. It does the two things a chat window can't: it tells the AI what your story has already established, and it checks what comes back against it.
The loop#
- Write a brief. In the Writer's Room, pick a chapter, open the Write from the bible tab and press Export the notes…. DunneWrite writes a file summarising everything relevant your story already contains: the characters in play, what happened before, the words your world uses.
- Use it with any AI. Paste the brief into whichever AI chat you already use, through your own account, and write the chapter with it. This needs no key in DunneWrite and costs nothing through DunneWrite.
- Bring the chapter back. In Ingestion Review, press Ingest a file — see the cost first…, pick the chapter, and say it is an AI draft, not your own writing. That one answer keeps it out of canon.
- Review what it contradicted. The draft's findings arrive as proposals, never as canon. DunneWrite shows you where the draft disagrees with what you had established: continuity problems, people in two places at once, facts that conflict. Accept or reject each one.
Then chapter two is written knowing what chapter one established. That loop is the whole idea.
Shaping the brief#
A brief's size is shown before you export it, and printed inside the file too, so you can see what you are about to paste. Chat windows have limits on how much they accept, so these options matter:
- How far back to look for the cast: The chapter just before this one (the smallest), The last three chapters, or Everything written so far (the largest, most of your bible).
- File: Markdown (.md) keeps headings and emphasis; Plain text (.txt) has no marks, which suits a chat window that would show them literally. Your prose and every fact are the same in both.
- What to include. You can pick specific characters, places and props in the Writer's Room to send. The brief then carries exactly what is checked and nothing else.
A brief can also be made from the Arrangements page, where it follows the order of the arrangement you are looking at.
Export the notes… for other uses#
The same file is a readable record of your bible. Use Export the notes… whenever you want to hand your notes to another writer or another tool as text. To move a whole story to another copy of DunneWrite, use a bundle instead; see Stories and bundles.
