Tags
Tag pages and canvases, give tags aliases, and manage them all from the Tag browser.
Tags are labels you attach to things so you can find them together later, across pages and groups.
Adding tags#
- Select the page or canvas you want to tag.
- Open the Item inspector from the app rail.
- Under Tags, type a tag name and add it. An item with no tags shows No tags yet.
The Item inspector also shows Properties, and Metadata such as the date a photo was taken, read from the photo itself.
Aliases#
A tag can have aliases: other names that mean the same tag. Give the tag Texas the alias TX, and searching for either one finds items tagged with either. Tag matching also ignores case and accents.
The Tag browser#
Choose Tags on the app rail to open the Tag browser. It lists every tag with the number of items that use it, and has a filter box at the top. Select a tag to:
- rename it,
- add or remove aliases,
- merge it into another tag, or
- delete it. Merging and deleting ask you to confirm first.
Searching by tag#
- In Plain search, typing a tag name (or an alias) finds items with that tag, as well as items that contain the word.
- In Advanced search,
tag:texasfinds only items with that tag.
See Search.
