DunneNote · Working in DunneNote
Themes and appearance
Light and dark themes, colour palettes, fonts, interface size and other appearance settings.
Open Settings ▸ Appearance. Changes apply straight away and are kept when you restart DunneNote.
Scheme, theme and palette#
- Scheme presets set the theme and palette together: Calibracer, Amethyst, Light and Dark. If you then change either one, the scheme shows as Custom.
- Theme: System (follows your operating system), Light or Dark.
- Palette: the accent colour. Choose Calibracer (Green), Default (Violet), Blue, Green, Teal, Amber or Rose.
Every palette is checked automatically for readable contrast (to the WCAG AA level) in both light and dark themes.
Fonts, corners and size#
- Fonts: pick the font used for each role:
- Sans (interface): Inter, Source Sans 3 or Public Sans.
- Serif: Literata, Source Serif 4 or Lora.
- Monospace: JetBrains Mono, IBM Plex Mono or Fira Code.
- Corners: Rounded or Square.
- Interface size: a slider from 90% to 130%.
Canvases#
- Selected canvas frame sets how a selected canvas is outlined.
- Show on-canvas controls adds control strips to the canvases as well as the toolbar. It is off by default.
- Hide all canvas frames, Canvas padding, and the Auto-layout options Fit canvases to their contents during Auto-layout and Keep group sizes during Auto-layout.
- Use the system scrollbar in text canvases.
- Show true stored values (under Accuracy) shows values exactly as they are stored, rather than as they are formatted for display.
This notebook#
The This notebook section applies only to the notebook that is open: Start each new page with a heading, Hide the original table when creating an editable copy, Page layout (Reflow or Fixed-width), Hide canvas frames in this notebook, and Link highlights.
Motion and focus#
If your operating system is set to reduce motion, DunneNote turns off its animations and transitions. Keyboard focus is always visible, in every theme.
